The Philosophy Behind Modern Puzzle Design

Building games as an independent duo means every single screen, mechanical interaction, and audio cue must serve a distinct purpose. When we developed Humbug 2, our primary goal was to strip away unnecessary cognitive friction while maintaining genuine intellectual depth.

Too often, mobile puzzle titles lean heavily on dense blocks of text instructions or pay-to-win mechanics. By focusing on organic player discovery—where spatial rules are learned intuitively through trial and error within the first few seconds of a stage—we establish an immediate bond between the player and the puzzle space.
